About Me

Hello, my name is Andrew Lewis, I am a 3rd-year Aerospace and Mechanical Engineer undergraduate student attending UC Davis.  Anything having to do with airplanes or rockets, I am instantly latched on. I love playing/watching baseball games and spending time with my friends. I am adept in computer programs such as Solidworks, MATLAB, OrCAD Cadence, LabVIEW, and Microsoft Office. I have worked on multiple projects involving these programs as well as manual analysis of individual components and design considerations based on criteria laid out by the client.

Initially, I started out as only an Aerospace Engineer but, once I found out most of the upper division classes are more theory based, I added on Mechanical Engineering as a double major. This allows me to take more hands-on classes which is something I find quintessential for all engineers.

Through this thought process, I decided to take a welding class on campus and it was AMAZING. I have always been interested in welding but I never fully understood it under after that class. I wouldn’t say welding is super important to engineers but it definitely opened my eyes to the structural integrity and failure points. Welding isn’t cheap but it’s a fun skill to have when building your own projects at home.
